The Galilee - Christian Focus Tour

The green hills of the Galilee sloping down to the most famous lake in the bible have become one of the most important pilgrimage sites for the Christian visitor.

Every Empire has left the mark of it's cities, forts and temples from the Romans, Greeks and the time of the Ottoman Empire.

The beauty of this region has the power to move Christian visitors. Someone once wrote:

"You don't have to close your eyes to picture Jesus here – you have to open them".

Our tour starts with a visit to the famous Nazareth city of Jesus’ childhood where we will visit the church of Annunciation

“… The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin… and the virgins name was Mary. And he came to her and said: Hail, O favored one; the Lord is with you… And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus”. (Luke 1;26).

A short drive from Nazareth leads us to the village of Cana where Jesus performed his first miracle turning water into wine at the wedding feast. ”… the mother of Jesus said unto Him, “They have no wine”…And there were set there six water pots of stone…Jesus said unto them, “Fill the water pots with water.

”And they filled them up to the brim…When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, not knowing from whence it had come… (John 2; 1-11).

Church by the Sea of Galillee

Heading towards the Sea of Galilee, the most famous sea in the bible. Visit Tabgha on the Sea of Galilee’s most northern shore, where we find the Church of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes, the famous and traditional site of the food multiplication where Jesus fed 5,000 people. Here is the Fourth-century pilgrim Egeria’s account written when visiting Tabgha:

“In the same place (not far from Capernaum) facing the Sea of Galilee is a well watered land in which lush grasses grow, with numerous trees and palms. Nearby are seven springs which provide abundant water. In this fruitful garden Jesus fed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish.”

This is also where Jesus appeared to his disciples after his resurrection

“…This is now the third time that Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was risen from the dead… (John 21:1-17)
